Speaker Preparation
SPEAKER INSTRUCTIONS
Arrive at the Heritage Ballroom or Heritage Room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your session to:
- Meet your chairs for a briefing
- Upload and test your slides (transfer via USB stick)
- Familiarise yourself with the equipment.
An AV technician will be on hand to assist you.
Your presentation should be 16:9 format to get the best image. You cannot use your own laptop to present.
Handy hints for the most effective slide preparation:
- Ensure font size is no smaller than size 20
- No italics (this could be hard to read for people with dyslexia) or slanted, swirly/curvy fonts
- The use of fonts such as Arial are most effective
- Colour of text - no to red or yellow - black or dark blue is best
- Make sure the contrast between font colour and the background colour is clear - no blue font on a red background
- No big paragraphs of text - dot points are better
- Always include alt text on your pictures and images (unless only decorative). If alt text is not available, write an image description.
